The Federal Government has appointed Professor Olaniyi Jacob Babayemi (RAS, MNSAP) as the pioneer Vice-Chancellor of the newly established Federal University of Agriculture and Technology, Okeho.
Professor Babayemi, a seasoned scholar in the Department of Animal Science, University of Ibadan, is widely respected for his contributions to agricultural research and higher education in Nigeria.
Over the years, he has served in several leadership roles at the University of Ibadan, including Head of Department and Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture. A dedicated teacher and mentor, he has supervised no fewer than 26 doctoral candidates, eight of whom are now Professors in various universities across the country.
His research profile is equally outstanding, with more than 145 scholarly articles published in reputable journals, further cementing his reputation as a leading academic in the field of Animal Science.
Beyond the university environment, Professor Babayemi is also the current President of the Nigerian Society for Animal Production (NSAP), a position that underscores his influence in advancing agricultural development nationwide.
With this appointment, stakeholders believe the Federal University of Agriculture and Technology, Okeho, is set to take off on a strong footing, benefiting from the experience, vision, and leadership of its pioneer Vice-Chancellor.
