The People of Okeho Celebrate Gladys Ayorinde’s Presidential NYSC Honours Award

The entire town of Okeho, nestled in the heart of Oke-Ogun, is beaming with pride as one of its own, Gladys Ayokunmi Ayorinde, receives national recognition for her outstanding service during the 2023 NYSC programme. Gladys is the daughter of Mr. Ayorinde, a respected educationist who has contributed immensely to the development of Okeho through his dedicated service in the educational sector. Her honour is seen not only as a personal achievement but also as a reflection of the legacy of excellence and service instilled in her family.

Gladys, a graduate of Communication and Language Arts from the University of Ibadan, was honoured at the President’s NYSC Honours Award Ceremony held on July 29, 2025, at the Presidential Villa, Abuja. She was one of 210 corps members selected nationwide for their exceptional contributions to their host communities.

Representing Batch C, Stream II, Gladys served at Sango Senior Secondary School, Kulende, Ilorin, Kwara State, where she executed a life-changing Community Development Service (CDS) project. Her initiative focused on the renovation of dilapidated classrooms, transforming them into conducive learning environments for over 200 students.

Her project included:

Installation of new doors and windows

Complete interior and exterior repainting

Construction of classroom partitions

Procurement and mounting of modern whiteboards

Back home in Okeho, the news of Gladys’ recognition has been met with celebration and admiration. Local residents, youth leaders, and elders alike are sharing the story with pride, calling her a true ambassador of the community and a shining example of excellence, service, and humility.

Gladys has not only elevated the name of Okeho on a national platform but has also inspired a new wave of hope among young people in the region.
